Scar
Bros. Rivalries
The Scar Bros. most entertaining and competitive
rivalries.
Herbal
Cowboys (Outdoor) – Two games, two draws. First round of the
cup game happens on Friday the 13th of June, what will unfold...
only one can advance!
Paok
FC. (indoor) – Perhaps
the biggest rivalry that brewed up in one season was that between
Paok FC and the Scar Bros. In their first encounter, the game was
a seesaw battle. The Scar Bros lead 4-2 at one point, and then
gave up 3 goals to go down 5-4. The Scar Bros. rallied and took a
lead 6-5 only to give up a last second goal 6-6. The next game was
in the cup quarterfinals. The game was tight. Scar Bros. drew
first blood. Paok tallied back and took a 2-1 and the Scar Bros.
drew late 2-2. After 9 penalty shots EACH, the Scar Bros. finally won the game.
In the very next league game, each team was tied in the standing
with a 6-8-2 record (with Paok ahead in goal difference). The game
was all Paok early on, leading 3-1. Then the Scar Bros rallied and
came back
to tie 3-3 during the second half. Paok again took a two-goal lead
5-3. With 4 minutes remaining the Scar Bros. scored 5-4, and with
1:30 left tied it 5-5 and with 20 seconds left the Brothers scored a final-fatal
goal 6-5! Two players were ejected with reds during the game. The
suspension would effect the Scar Bros in the next cup game as they
lost out their main central defender and were defeated in the
Semi-Finals.
JUSC
(outdoor) - In 2006
outdoor, the first time they met in the 5th division
contention, the Scar Bros. squeaked out a 3-2 win. It was as
scrappy affair. During the cup divisional cup of
2006, they were to meet in the final game. The Scar Bros. lead
1-0, then JUSC tied it. Both goals were scored on penalty kicks.
Each team scored a second goal each 2-2. After 2 red cards were
shown to JUSC, the Scar Bros could not finish the game off in
extra time. The finals went to penalty kicks. The Scar Bros. won
after 9 shooters EACH team (the last being the keeper who scored his shot
and saved the final shot). In 2007 league match in division 3, the
Scar Bros defeated the dejected JUSC 4-0, who played in 10 for
most of the game.
Victoria
(outdoor) –
Outdoor 2006-2007. In order to finish in first place in division
5, the Scar Bros. Needed to defeat Victoria because they were
ahead by 2 points. The Scar Bros. Drew 1-1 and missed a last
minute penalty to concede the title to Victoria.
Next season both teams moved to division 3 and the Scar
Bros. Defeated Victoria 2-1 with a last second penalty shot. That
win was the stepping-stone that lead to the Scar Bros to their
first place finish, especially considering Victoria beat QSR (see
below) later that year to help the Scar Bros out even further.
Queen St. Rangers (outdoor)
– After
winning division 4 in 2006, QSR met the Scar Bros in an early
outdoor 2007 season match in division 3 to fight for league
supremacy since both teams were tied in first with 3 wins 0 losses
and 1 draw at that time. The Scar Bros gave up the first goal.
They then rallied and dominated the remainder of the game winning
3-1. The teams were neck and neck all season until Victoria (see
above) defeated QSR 2-1 to put the Scar Bros into a clear first
place. In the outdoor 2007 divisional cup, QSR and Scar Bros met
in the second round. The game was close, but the Scar Bros.
dominated but could not finish and the game went to penalties
after a 1-1. After a total of 10 shooters EACH the game was decided.
The Scar Bros. scored their first 4, but then went on to miss 4 of
their next 6 including the final miss that put QSR through to the
next round.
Bosnia (outdoor)
– The odds of playing the same team in a 64-team tournament in
the first round for two consecutive years is 1 in 3844! Scar Bros.
beat those odds and played Bosnia (a fantastic premier team) in both the 2006 and 2007
outdoor cups. The Scar Bros. while in division 5 were able to
upset the Bosnians 1-0 in a dramatic, tight game. Bosnia a premier
team was knocked out by a division 5 team in
the first round. The next year, again out of 64 teams, these two
teams were matched up... this time Bosnia would get their revenge. After a
tight first half, Scar Bros had a player ejected and played in 10.
They nonetheless came from behind twice from 1-0 down to tie and
from 2-1 down to tie 2-2. With about 15 minutes remaining the
Bosnian’s ransacked the fatigued Scar Bros. defense and scored 3
goals to return the favor and eliminate the division 3 Scar Bros. Who knows if they will meet again in the 2008
cup?
Astro Cleats
(indoor) – Player/Manager
Luigi Di Serio was a former Astro Cleats player who left the team
to start his own. He also dragged with him a number of players
from the Astros. At least 10 players had gravitated from one team
to the other at one time or another. The Scar Bros. playing in
division 5 and the Astros playing premier in indoor. The Scar
Bros. moved up after two seasons to division 2 and the Astros to
division 1. The prior year, the Scar Bros and Astros has merged
teams for the outdoor season in 2007, but again broke at the
beginning of indoor of 2008. Although the team remained in good
relations and shared a practice facility together (which
exhibition games did get
intense from time to time), the SISL 2008 Indoor cup brought the
teams face to face against each other in the Round of 16. The Scar Bros. lead
1-0 after the first half. The battle was tight until the Astros
conceded defeated and broke down giving up 3 more goals losing
4-0. The Scar Bros. would advance all the way to the semi-finals that
year.

Worst
Enemy:
Bourdas -
(Scar Bros. Worst Enemy indoor and outdoor). We can't call Bourdas
a rivalry, since Bourdas has dominated the Scar Bros since its
inception. Bourdas had knocked the Scar Bros out of the TSSL
Outdoor cup in 2006 winning 2-1. Bourdas defeated the Scar Bros.
in indoor division 2, four consecutive times, 3-2, 7-3, 4-3 and
6-5. That's four one goal games! Ouch
